ATHENS STATE UNIVERSITY

My graphic design work at Athens State University is a reflection of exploring a workflow and thought strategy that is very different to my natural and habitual flow. My goal is to unlearn habits I’ve developed professionally and consider more thoughtful ways of graphically communicating ideas, as well as employing unfamiliar software to broaden my skillset.

I’ve attempted to develop ideas that are aesthetically pleasing and communicative, but also contrary to my established style. My professional work is often very regimented in traditional styles working on various rules and grid layouts in specific consumer markets. I’ve applied more abstract, or organic, systems to my work in an attempt to blend the worlds of graphic design and fine art.

Graphic design and fine art have always been very different functions to me, requiring very different skillsets and thought processes. By leaning on my functional ability and adapting to new thought processes, I have been able to focus on straying from conventional systems into more abstract and edgy compositions.
